Happy New Year From San Diego

Happy New Year From San Diego! We spent the day in San Diego eating fish & chips for lunch at a cute restaurant in the harbor. We walked and drove all around. We lived here while Kris was in Naval school 32 years ago. We went to dinner at a wonderful Mexican restaurant. We have eaten really tooo well on this trip. Time to drag out the treadmill when I get home. We saw dolphins swimming down the coast line this morning while we walked along the beach, I had my other camera and thought I was taking a video and of course it didn't work...oh well, it was really cool. We are really having a great time. Happy New Year!!!

It's Warm Here!

Here are some pic's we took yesterday and today. Kris is in the hot tub at Yuma. It was 71 degrees yesterday. We went across the border to Los Algodonas, Mexico and bought a few things. As we crossed the border Kris was pulled into the security trailer and frisked (again) this happened last year, we were hoping that it would not happen again but it did. The reason they pull him is because they are looking for someone with the same or similar name, not Kris. We were kinda of expecting it to happen so we were not as nervous this time.

These are pic's while in Mexico, I bought me a frog that I talked them way down in price.

This is in front of the "Bano"

We are now in San Diego with the top down on my car....feelin' good!!!

On the Road

Well we are on our way to Yuma, AZ. We left at 8:00am this morning. The roads were TERRIBLE!! After Cedar City the roads were clear and we were able to go the speed limit.
Our windshield washer quit working and so we had to stop once in a while and throw snow on the windshield so we could see. We washed the car when we got to St George and Kris fixed the washer. We decided to call it a night and stay at the Best Western in Logandale, Nevada by Lake Mead. We have stayed at this motel before and it is nice and we have internet access , and there is no snow!

Our 38th Anniversary

Today is our 38th wedding anniversary. It is also Joseph Smiths Birthday. This is how our day started. I woke up about 2:30am, about 3:00am Kris woke up. Why we woke up that early I don't know but we did, so Kris told me to turn the TV on and we watched the news until 3:30 and then he said lets get dressed and go to Walmart....so we did and got a little bit of shopping done, it is surprising that everyone at the Syracuse Walmart was really friendly at 4:00am then we stopped by McDonald's and Kris bought me breakfast. We have a few more errands today an I have some Relief Society things I have to do and then we are going out to dinner tonight. The day after Christmas we are leaving for Yuma Arizona and hop the border to Los Algodonas Mexico. We are going to try to make it over to San Diego and spend a few days there and go through a session in the San Diego Temple. It is such a beautiful Temple.

Kris and I met on a blind date set up by my best friend who was dating his friend. We went to Lagoon (back in the day when you walked in for free and bought tickets for the rides). Kris was hunting in Wyoming that day and was 2 hours late for our date and didn't come to pick me up until 10:00pm, my dad was not going to let me go first because it was so late and second Kris wouldn't come to the door to get me because my friend said I probably wouldn't be there. You see she set me up with another one of his friends and I got a better offer and stood him up. Anyway my dad finally agreed as long as I was home by midnight and not a minute later. We really hit it off and that was August 1st and we were married 4 1/2 months later. We were married in my parents living room. We were married 6 years before we started our family (not by choice) we had to go through fertility procedures. We have four great kids and six absolutely amazing grand kids. We were sealed in the Ogden Temple.

Christmas Traditions

We all have special family traditions, I want to share a few of ours with everyone. We take the trip to see the lights at Temple Square. We eat at the Gateway. We usually drive in but this year we took front runner and it was great not to have to fight the traffic.

riding front runner was great!

The Temple is always beautiful.
It was snowing and it was magical!

I make homemade suckers every year, I have done it forever. This year I decided I probably wouldn't make them, but Carrie called and said, "When are you making suckers?" I told her I don't think I will make them and she told me, "You have to make suckers, if we don't have suckers for Christmas that would be like Christmas without Santa." So she came over and helped me make suckers! So if you stop by our house be sure to grab a sucker from "Grandmas Sucker Tree". On Christmas Eve Kris makes his "famous kabobs" and the family all comes over to eat and they all open a gift from us. On Christmas morning I make a breakfast casserole and muffins and the kids come over for brunch. That is getting harder since the grand kids are getting older and want to stay at their house and play with the new stuff. We travel to see what Santa brought the grand kids and then visit our moms(both our dads are gone) my mom stays with us every other year. Christmas is all about family and friends, good food and the birth of Jesus Christ, I pray we all keep the true spirit of Christmas in our homes this year. Have a wonderful Christmas Everyone!!

Wonderful Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, dinner was at our house this year. We had 18 family members. I was so busy cooking I didn't bring out the camera. Kris wanted to pull a practical joke so as I cooked the turkey he cooked a cornish game hen, and when the family was all seated at the table he brought out the game hen and said because of the economy this was all we could afford, it was really pretty funny. We had a wonderful day. Now starts the Christmas Season, my favorite time of the year. Our wedding anniversary is Dec 23...... 38 years this year. Merry Christmas All!!!! I have opened my blog back up.

Saftey in Blogging

Just read an article on KSL about blogging and the dangers...I decided it was not worth the risk to my family...so I put a block on it and it is only open to those I invited...Thanks for your support.

Deer Hunting

We went deer hunting over the week-end. No one in our group got a deer, but we had fun. We went up by Hardware Ranch and camped in the parking lot. My sister-in-law and I stayed at camp and watched the Elk. Carrie had a deer tag and was a real trooper, up at 6:00am every morning when it was 24 degrees out side.

Carrie and Brock had a flat tire the first day. All the guys were scruffy...I guess you have to look rough to hunt for deer, Carrie was just cute in all her orange.

Dax with Papa and Grandma

Pictures of Dax while his Mom & Dad & brothers went to Disney World....We did survive the week!!! We had lots of fun. Dax followed Papa everywhere even to the bathroom...he had to wear papa's shoes (I thought I rotated the picture oopps)...dinner time was fun??!!?? Bedtime was peaceful.

Food Storage

I have been working so hard on my food storage room and figuring out what we had and what we needed. WHAT A JOB!!! Last winter Kris had a feeling to buy wheat...so we took a trip up to Brigham City at the Honeyville store and bought soooo much wheat. Right after we bought it (within a month) the price went from $16.00 for 50lbs to $24.00 for 50lbs. (I am not sure what it is now) So his promptings saved us quite a bit since we bought so much. I am now grinding the wheat into flour and baking our bread. The case lot sales that are going around are great too, if anyone wants to know Winegars in Clearfiled (the corner of 1000 west and 300 north) has the best prices, however I have noticed Macey's are matching them on some items. Winegars does have a web site to look at the ad at winegars.com. The ad ends Sept 30th. Looking at the food storage we have, it gives us a "warm fuzzy" to know if something happened we are pretty self sufficient. I am now working on cleaning supplies and laundry stuff because that's where we are lacking. Now I have it organized it will be easier to rotate. I will post pictures when it is all done.

Well, it is now official, we are EMTY NESTERS. Yes it is kinda sad, but Brock and Carries house is so cute. We spent the day helping them clean and move, now I can't move my body! I am happy they got such a cute house. They will be over for dinner tomorrow cuz they have no food! They took Lucky (Carrie's cat) and Yes I will admit it I will miss him, too.

New Hobby

Well I just found a new hobby, Kris doesn't know yet, he has been on Limo runs today. I went to Cathy Stevens bead store and got hooked!!! Just for info she is going to teach a watch bead class, (my daughters are really into them and they are CUTE) at our Stake Relief Society Super Saturday in November, that will be allot of fun and she is going to get us a great deal on them! I can't wait. I am not really a big jewelry person, at least I wasn't but now I want some to match every outfit!! It is fun! The picture doesn't do it justice either.

Labor Day Week-end

We spent five days of the Labor Day week-end at the Ft Bridger Mt man Rendezvous. We had a great time, even when it snowed on us!! It made me appreciate all the modern things we enjoy. At the same time it made me appreciate our ancestors and all the sacrificed for us. Kris found a fellow black powder gun lover and I found some good old fashioned Root Beer and Cream Soda in really cool bottles, I bought it really for the bottles. We stayed at a RV park in Evanston Wyoming. On Monday we went to the Cowboy Days Parade, allot of horses and candy, my grandsons loved it. It was allot of fun but I am glad to be home. We also took a ride up to Mirror Lake, that is so beautiful! We are blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the country. Here are pictures of our trip.

Stress attack!!!

I know I haven't posted since Carrie and Brock's wedding, I have not been feeling well. I went to the doctor, twice, and finally yesterday he gave me a shot in the head! I have had and inflamed nerve in my head and was unable to get up for any length of time so all I could do is lay on my right side because that was the least painful. The first doc I went to told me I had something and everyone I talked to said no that can't be it, so I went to another doc for a second opinion, he asked if I had been under any stress lately and I said well I was called as the Relief society
President a few months ago and my daughter just got married last week, and he laughed and said you just self diagnosed yourself! I just want you to know what really cured me (besides the steroid shot) My wonderful wonderful family. Kris's birthday was Tuesday and Liz brought over dinner that night. Carrie and Brock bought Pizza the next night and Jen made some wonderful homemade chicken noodle soup for me and also some lemon balm, fresh from her herb garden, for herb tea. It is so great to have wonderful family support in time of need. Being Relief Society President I can see a difference in those that have a strong family support system and those that don't. The best thing was the cards my six wonderful grand kids made me. Kris took wonderful care of me too. He has waited on me hand and foot. I owe him a big birthday bash! He even bought his own birthday cake! Pictures are the cards in no particular order.

I love 'em!!!!! Thank you everyone!!!
